It is also softer, which allows deeper undercuts and finer modelling in a sculpted head. On a piece like this the difference shows in the fur and around the muzzle.The head faces forward over the finger and a loose ring hangs from the muzzle, free to swing. The band either side carries an engraved panel, darkened in the recesses in the same way.Silver behaves differentlyIt tarnishes, and that is not a fault. Oxidation darkens the recesses and leaves the high points bright, which makes the carving read more strongly over time. Most owners deliberately leave it.A soft cloth restores brightness when you want it.
