The Fellowship crosses this stream on their way into this hidden realm, and its waters wash away the weariness of their long journey. This juxtaposition of the water and the wood inspired this reversible scarf that is as relaxing to knit as it is enjoyable. The cables on the front resemble the twisting roots and branches of the forest, while the cables on the reverse imitate the flowing waters of a gentle brook. Construction NotesThe Silverlode Scarf is worked sideways from point to point. It features an I-cord selvedge for neat finished edges and simple increases and decreases to achieve the gentle shaping. Dark green sample uses sport weight yarn at a gauge of 36 sts X 24 rows over 4in (10cm) after blocking; it created a fabric with considerable drape, especially for cables. Red sample uses DK weight yarn at a gauge of 29 sts X 24 rows over 4in (10cm) after blocking; it created a more structured fabric.
