This was one of those perfect, late summer nights for sleeping tentless under the stars at over 2000m; calm, warm, dry and with good friends. As I could feel dawn approaching, I opened one eye to see if blue hour, the twilight period just before sunrise, was starting. This was when I needed to pull myself from the snug comfort of my sleeping bag whilst my adventure companions slept soundly. I spent several quiet and focused minutes shooting the scene before the sun crested the mountains to the east and fired body battery charging rays onto my tired face. One of my favourite creations of this morning is this calm, atmospheric landscape, with the rugged silhouette of the Gastlosen ridge overlooking the softly layered hills of the Simmental region. Subdued light and muted tones give it a quiet, almost monochromatic feel. This print brings a sense of stillness and depth, making it a subtle yet striking addition to various interior styles. Its gentle palette works harmoniously with both neutral and more richly coloured spaces. Using a highly detailed digital image file printed on archival-quality fine art papers, it is even possible to make out 3 other mountain campers enjoying the sunrise from the Hundsrugg in the centre of the image. I wonder if they have a photograph of us.
