Simple System Meadow Forage Pellets – 20kg Most bagged feeds are built from one plant. Meadow Forage Pellets contain five species of forage, grown together in a mixed ley rather than blended after harvest — meadow fescue, tall fescue, sainfoin, birdsfoot trefoil and chicory. Growing them together supports sustainable UK farming, and feeding them together supports something else: a wider range of gut microbes. That variety is the whole point of the product. A horse eating a single forage all winter has a narrower microbiome than one eating several, and gut microbial diversity underpins how well a horse digests everything else it eats. Performance & Benefits Five forage species grown together in a mixed ley, adding genuine variety to the diet. Created to support a wide range of beneficial gut microbes, aiding condition and performance. High fibre with medium digestible energy. Highly palatable, and useful for tempting fussy horses. Free from cereals, molasses, soya, straw, additives and preservatives. GM free, and registered with the Vegan Society. Grown sustainably in the UK. Suitable For Increasing dietary variety and supporting gut health. Fussy or selective eaters. Horses needing improved condition and performance. Use in treat balls, or as a training aid. Feeding Introduce gradually over a week, as with any new feed. Soak until free from hard lumps, using 1 part pellets to 2.5 parts water. Start with 100g per 100kg bodyweight per day, dry weight before soaking — 500g daily for a 500kg horse. Increase as required, up to a maximum of 4.5kg per day. A level Stubbs bowl scoop holds approximately 1.5kg dry weight. Can be fed alone, or alongside a Simple System chop and balancer. Care & Caution For horses prone to metabolic issues or laminitis, Simple System suggest a lower-calorie option instead — MetaSlim, Organic Lucie Stalks or Sainfoin Fibre Pellets.
