The first Europeans to consume chocolate were members of the Spanish royal family after returning conquistadors brought cacao from the Americas to the Spanish court as a novelty an d treasure. Chocolate was a rich, fortifying and spiritual drink for centuries before it went through its evolution into bar form. This powdered drinking chocolate is in the European tradition--made of rich, ground chocolate (not cocoa powder) that we made with just Nicaraguan cacao and organic cane sugar. Three recipes are included so that you can make a European-styled sipping chocolate, a drinking chocolate or an American-styled hot chocolate.
