The HATHOR / HET HERT sistrum is a sacred musical instrument that holds great significance in ancient Kemetic mythology and ritual ceremonies. Hathor/ Het Hert, a prominent Neteru in the ancient Kemetic pantheon, is often depicted holding a sistrum in her hand. She is associated with the realm of music, love, fertility, and joy. During worship and ritual ceremonies, the sistrum was used by temple priestesses to create rhythmic sounds. The rattling of the sistrum was believed to invoke the presence and blessings of Hathor/ Het Hert, driving away evil spirits and negative energies while bestowing joy and prosperity upon the community. The sistrum is made up of a copper loop or frame which holds a series of thin copper bars.
