Description: Are you afraid of your serger? Does the threading bring a drop of sweat to your brow? This class is for you! Our insrtuctor Jaynie will walk you though setting up and threading your serger. In this course you will learn how to: Thread your serger The "anatomy" of your serger Cleaning and Maintenance Tension Adjustments and troubleshooting Fabric feeding issues Knife do's and don'ts Serger safety Class Duration: 2 hours total. Class includes 45 minutes of instructions and 1 hour of work time/troubleshooting, the last 15 minutes will be for cleaning and packing up Students Bring: YOUR serger. Students will bring their sergers to class to learn how to operate them. Serger must be in operational condition, we cannot offer any repair services. Please bring your owner's manual and notebook to take notes with. Needed Materials: scrap fabric, thread for serger, we advise a different color thread for each cone to make tension adjustments easier. Cones are advised but you can use standard sewing machine thread as well. You will leave with: The knowledge and confidence to use your serger machine! Skill Level: Confident Beginner Garment Sewist Skill Details: A good amount of sewing experience. Students should have made at least 3 garments on their own before attending class. Overall students should be comfortable operating and troubleshooting a standard sewing machine. Students should be familiar with seam allowance, general garment construction, and terminology like RST and WST.
