The patent-pending lipid matrix tablet system protects the melatonin from harsh gastric juices, and is designed to allow absorption via the lymph. Preparations that do not use the lipid matrix system must first go through the portal vein system. The ‘slow motion’-like property is a byproduct of the micronized lipid matrix system.
