This item is an individually hand painted wood slice featuring the native flora and fauna of the British Isles. Each piece is linked with the Winter Festival of Yule or the Winter Solstice through folklore or Mythology. Traditional Yule Blessings Holly – Holly King, The end of the Solar year. Compassion Oak – Oak King, New Solar Year. Vitality and strength Ivy – Friendship and tenacity. Mistletoe -Peace and Luck Birch – New Beginnings, fertility and healing Fly Agaric Mushroom – Good luck. Each piece is painted on a wood slice ( usually Pine) and measures approximately 6 cm in diameter. Each wood slice is hung on twine and finished off with a wooden bead.
