An unusually slender side or card table, firmly attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London. Circa 1820. Why we love it This elegant table has most unusual slender proportions, w hich, together with the idiosynchratic Gillows design, quality and spectacular choice of veneers, make it a desirable candidate to fill a narrow space. With a useful concealed frieze drawer, it is also ideal at the bedside or beside a sofa supporting a chic lamp. Its restrained Regency design works perfectly well for classic, contemporary and eclectic interiors. AttributionThough not stamped, this elegant table is identical to a "mahogany ecarte table" design with "mahogany partitions in [the drawer]" illustrated in Gillows of Lancaster's Estimate Sketch Books, folio 3557, dated 14 December 1826, made by John Miller. A nearly identical table, although slightly later in date, was sold Christie's London, 27 November 2012, lot 90.
