Snatcher CD-ROMantic: Pilot Disk for the PC Engine Super CD-ROM² is an extremely rare Japan-exclusive promotional disc released by Konami on August 7, 1992 — two and a half months ahead of the full Snatcher CD-ROMantic release — to build anticipation for what would become one of the most celebrated games in the PC Engine library and the most complete version of Hideo Kojima's landmark cyberpunk adventure. The Pilot Disk is not simply a demo — it is a curated preview package containing multiple distinct pieces of content. A playable demo covers the full opening scene of Snatcher with no differences from the final release, giving players their first taste of Neo Kobe City, Gillian Seed, and Metal Gear Mk. II. A full-length trailer showcases the game's animated cutscenes and atmosphere. A character database provides voiced bios for the cast. A staff interview gives an inside look at the development team. And a Metal Gear jukebox provides three CD audio tracks from the game in full quality: "One Night In Neo Kobe City," "Tears Stained Eyes," and "Pressure of Tension" — three of the most celebrated tracks in the Snatcher soundtrack. Released in Japan only, the Pilot Disk was never sold outside Japan and was produced in limited quantities as a pre-release promotional item. It is considered a hard-to-find collector's piece even among dedicated Snatcher and PC Engine collectors.
