Courses and a dozen Yamaha sleds, ranging in power from 500cc to 700cc, can be unlocked in championship mode. Five modes of play include championship, single race, time trial, multiplayer and hill climbing, each with specific requirements and challenges.Successful completion of championship races earns money for upgrading sleds, buying new parts, or repairing damage, as well as unlocking new snowmobiles. Prior to each race, you can adjust the caterpillar track for acceleration and grip, the engine, the front and back suspension, and the skis. Money is awarded for specific tricks ranging from $10 to $50 depending on difficulty, with higher amounts given as you increase the power of the machines. Other features include four camera views, keyboard and joystick control schemes, a track editor, and a different championship for each difficulty level.Championship mode is single-player only, but multiplayer racing is available on split screen (two players in a single race) or LAN (four people). Single races can be run against three computer-controlled players when human competition isn't available.
