About the Snowball Neocaridina Shrimp Snowball Shrimp are freshwater aquarium shrimp with a consistent, pure white or translucent body. They are a selectively bred Neocaridina davidi variety known for their uniform color, small size (0.75–1.25 inches), and peaceful demeanor. Their name comes from their pure white eggs, which, like the adults, resemble miniature snowballs. They are excellent scavengers, contributing to a clean and healthy aquarium environment. We strongly advise you to keep live plants, driftwood, and botanicals with your shrimp. These materials provide additional biofilm while also providing plenty of spaces for your shrimp if you plan to house them with fish. Water hardness is optimal to ensure Neocaridina and Caridina Shrimp thrive in your aquariums. Neocaridinas prefer a gH of 4-8° and a kH of 1-4°. TDS (total dissolved solids) should range between 150-250 ppm. If the water is too alkaline or high of a TDS, shrimp exoskeletons will be too brittle to molt out of.
