A beautiful Mountain Hare sitting in pink heather. Nestled in a small hollow on a Cairngorm hillside, a snow hare sat completely at ease, observing the valley as rain, snow and sunlight shifted across the mountains. We photographed the hare from a respectful distance, capturing its calm composure and the subtle tones of winter heather. This image focuses on the quiet intimacy of the encounter — the hare’s alert yet relaxed presence, the texture of the heather, and the gentle play of light and weather across the landscape. It is part of my ongoing work exploring fleeting wildlife moments, where behaviour and environment combine to tell the story naturally.
