The ArtworkThe back print reworks Chrysanthemums in a Vase (1893) by French Impressionist painter Gustave Caillebotte, a densely packed still life of yellow, white, and orange blooms rendered in loose, vibrant brushwork against a dark background — one of the artist's later floral studies, painted at his garden in Petit-Gennevilliers outside Paris. The ArtistGustave Caillebotte (1848–1894) was a French painter and key figure of the Impressionist movement, as well as one of its most important patrons and collectors. Though known early on for urban scenes of Paris, he turned to gardening and floral painting in the 1880s, cultivating chrysanthemums, roses, and orchids at his own property — the same flowers that became recurring subjects in his final years of work.
