The SSL 2 MKII is a compact 2-in/2-out USB-C audio interface, built around a pair of SSL's own mic preamps designed to bring some of the same sound quality found in SSL's professional mixing consoles to a desktop setup. The same inputs can also handle line-level gear like synths and keyboards, or plug straight into the two front-panel instrument inputs for guitar, bass, or other DI sources. Each channel has switchable 48V phantom power and a high-pass filter to clean up low-end rumble, plus a Legacy 4K switch. SSL describes the Legacy 4K switch as bringing some of the character of their classic 4000-series consoles, adding a bit of warmth and a subtle high frequency lift to whatever you're recording. On the output side, you get balanced monitor outputs and two headphone outputs on the front panel. There's also a loopback input, handy for podcasters and streamers who want to mix in audio from their computer alongside a mic. Everything runs through SSL's latest generation of converters for clean, detailed recordings. It's powered over USB-C from your computer so there's no separate power adapter needed. Registering your unit gives you access to the SSL Production Pack, a solid bundle of software including plug-ins, virtual instruments, and a DAW.
