This is olive oil for using, not admiring from a safe distance. Cook with it, dress with it, put it on the table and pass the bread. Good olive oil belongs in the kitchen, not at the back of the cupboard. Good oil. End of story. Something Else started with our family olive groves in Mani, in Greece’s southern Peloponnese. Auntie Aphrodite cared for the family trees for decades before passing the groves to her nephew Nikos. Today Nikos and Lesley look after them, and we also work with neighbouring growers in Mani. The bottle came later. In the kitchen Use it to start a pan, dress tomatoes and feta, finish roast vegetables, spoon over beans or lentils, add a good glug to soup or simply get some decent bread involved. The bottle is there to be emptied. About this oil Olive: Koroneiki Origin: Mani, Peloponnese, Greece Extraction: Cold extracted at or below 25°C Size: 500ml Ingredients: Extra virgin olive oil Superior category olive oil obtained directly from olives and solely by mechanical means. Olive oil changes Olive oil doesn’t taste exactly the same forever. Its aromas and intensity gradually change with time, air, heat and light, including after the bottle is opened. Keep it tightly closed, away from heat and direct sunlight. Use it rather than saving it. From Mani Our family groves sit in the Mani landscape of the southern Peloponnese. They’re where Something Else began and where we’re starting a longer project to keep existing groves working and, where we can, bring neglected olive plots back into regular care. We’ll show that work as it happens.
