Compared to SA7, SA8 brings a handful of distinct changes: the intro has been redone with a screenshot of Sandopolis Zone, most of the music has been rolled back to the tracks originally heard in Sonic 3D Blast 5, the colour palettes have been overhauled — most notably making Sonic red — and the level order has been reshuffled once more, promoting the Flying Battery level (second in S3DB5, fourth in SA7) to the opening stage. It's the same broken, chaotic, neon-drenched experience the series is known for, now with a red hedgehog and a fresh coat of wrongness.
