The Sony XLR-K3M is a dual-channel digital XLR audio adapter designed to connect microphones and various audio sources to cameras that feature a Multi Interface Shoe. Launched alongside the a7R IV, which utilizes its integrated digital audio interface, this adapter achieves optimal performance by transmitting a digital audio stream directly to the camera via the Multi Interface Shoe. Additionally, other Sony cameras equipped with the standard MI Shoe can utilize the microphone, as it offers a selectable digital/analog output. The XLR-K3M is equipped with two XLR-1/4" combo mic/line inputs that provide 48V phantom power, along with a 3.5mm stereo input that includes plug-in power, all featuring individual level controls. Its user-friendly controls ensure that the adapter is straightforward to operate immediately upon unboxing. An ECM-XM1 shotgun microphone is included, enabling users to start recording YouTube videos, Facebook Live streams, and interviews effortlessly, whether at home, in a studio, or while traveling. When connected via the Multi Interface Shoe of a compatible camera that features a built-in digital audio interface, the audio signal is directly transferred to the camera in digital form so that no degradation can occur. A simple switch also provides compatibility with a wide range of cameras using an analog interface. Controls Include: Record level (Auto/Manual), record level link (Input 1-Input 2), attenuator, and low-cut filter (100/300 Hz). An advanced shock and vibration suppressing design effectively minimizes low-frequency and handling noise, which can degrade audio quality. The absence of connecting cables, when used with a compatible MI Shoe, also means that no noise can be transmitted to the microphone mechanically via cables and connectors. Simply clip the microphone into the Multi Interface Shoe on a compatible camera for direct power and audio connections without the need for extra cables or batteries. Sony's Multi Interface Shoe offers intelligent connectivity and control for a variety of accessories, providing maximum flexibility and mobility. An MI Shoe extension cable is supplied, giving you the flexibility to position the XLR-K3M to accommodate professional rigs and camera cages. An ECM-XM1 supercardioid monaural microphone and a fur windscreen for wind-noise reduction are supplied.
