Sortevera Tinto is a field blend of indigenous Canary Islands varietals from Tenerife – Listán Negro, Listán Rosado, Negramoll, Vijariego Negro, Tintina, and Malvasía Rosada. Elegant and detailed – this wine has impeccable clarity and focus with finely grained but grippy tannins and pure flavours. This is a blend of local grape varieties that have been fermented with wild yeasts and aged for 9 months in neutral French oak barrels. Sortevera is a collaborative project between winemaker Jonatan Garcia and grower Jose Angel Alonso Ramos. This is a field blend of three small plots that are 100-200 year-old, with organic bush vines from the most northern part of the island Taganana. Taganana is quite possibly one of the most visually stunning regions in the world, with small vines planted on steep slopes directly overlooking the vast Atlantic ocean. The yields in this region are very low and all work is done by hand. What you get is elegant and detailed wine with impeccable clarity and focus, finely grained but grippy tannins, and pure flavours. The combination of ancient ungrafted vines, dramatic Atlantic-facing terroir, and careful winemaking creates a wine that's genuinely distinctive and compelling. The field blend of six indigenous varietals adds layers of complexity that you won't find in single-varietal wines. The collaboration between winemaker Jonatan Garcia (of Suertes del Marqués) and grower Jose Angel Alonso Ramos brings together expertise in winemaking and intimate knowledge of these ancient vineyards in Taganana. The wild yeast fermentation and neutral oak aging preserve the purity and elegance of the fruit while adding structure and integration.Serve it at room temperature or slightly chilled with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, game, or aged cheeses. This is honest, elegant Canary Islands wine from one of the most visually stunning wine regions in the world, perfect for those looking for something with impeccable clarity, focus, and pure flavours from 100-200 year-old vines overlooking the Atlantic.
