The Sorting Hat is one of the first magical objects that students of Hogwarts come into contact with as they begin their journey in the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's cent uries old and talks with a dry, raspy voice, but it is possibly the wisest being in the whole of the school (bar Dumbledore, of course!).
