Southgate Trailing Fuchsia | Fuchsia × hybrida ‘Southgate’ | Trailing Fuchsia ‘Southgate’ | Fuchsia ‘Southgate’ Southgate Trailing Fuchsia is a classic, shade‑loving perennial (grown as an annual in cooler climates) prized for its spectacular, pendulous, fully double blooms featuring soft, pale pink sepals and delicate blush‑pink corollas. This vigorous, trailing selection from the Fuchsia family is known for its cascading habit, elegant pastel coloration, and nonstop flowering from spring until frost. Its nectar‑rich, bell‑shaped blossoms draw hummingbirds and butterflies, making it a standout choice for hanging baskets, window boxes, elevated patio containers, and shaded woodland borders. With its graceful form and reliable performance in filtered light conditions, Southgate offers romantic beauty and continuous color with minimal maintenance. Growing Southgate Trailing Fuchsia Light: Partial shade to full shade; thrives in dappled morning sunlight but requires strict protection from harsh, direct afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch. Soil: Rich, well‑drained soil; highly adaptable but performs best in fertile, organically rich potting mixtures. Water: Moderate to high; water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, as it does not tolerate drying out completely. Maintenance: Deadheading spent flowers and the resulting berries encourages continuous blooming. Pinching back stem tips early in the season promotes a fuller, bushier shape. Wildlife: Highly attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies; generally resistant to deer and rabbits. Hardiness: Perennial in USDA zones 9–11; grown as an annual or overwintered indoors in cooler regions. Shipping Info Southgate Trailing Fuchsia plants are shipped as healthy young starts in 4" nursery pots. Allow 1–2 weeks after arrival for plants to recover from shipping and resume active growth before repotting or planting outdoors.
