Spamalot is a satirical take on the legend of King Arthur and his quest for the Holy Grail. With absurd humor and playful anachronisms, Spamalot embraces the spirit of Monty Python’s unique comedic style while adding new musical numbers and theatrical spectacle to the 1975 film on which it is based. Du Prez and Idle’s score features songs such as “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” originally from Monty Python’s Life of Brian; “The Song That Goes Like This,” a parody of over-the-top Broadway love ballads; “Knights of the Round Table”; and the “Fisch Schlapping Song,” based on an early Monty Python sketch. Spamalot originally opened on Broadway in 2005 and continues to delight audiences with its blend of irreverence, catchy tunes, and classic Monty Python absurdity.
