When replacing a ball joint or seating a control arm stud into a knuckle, the tight tolerance of the pinch slot makes insertion difficult without spreading the opening slightly. The common workaround - using a pry bar, screwdriver, or chisel - risks cracking aluminum knuckles or distorting the slot geometry, compromising the integrity of the repair. The 37975 eliminates that risk entirely by using a threaded adjustment nut to apply controlled, even force across the slot, expanding it safely within the 4.4mm to 10mm range that covers most domestic and import applications. Built from steel with a black oxide finish for corrosion resistance, this tool is compact enough to keep on the alignment rack and reusable across countless service jobs. It's particularly valuable for shops that frequently perform ball joint replacements, upper control arm swaps, or strut service on vehicles with tight-tolerance pinch knuckles. Sold individually as a single tool per purchase, the SPC 37975 is a straightforward, low-cost addition to any alignment or suspension service toolkit.
