SpecPrep SB is a three-component bonding adhesive that creates a structural bond between fresh and existing concrete, and doubles as an anti-corrosion coating for rebar SpecPrep SB offers up to a 24-hour open time and resists penetration of water and chlorides, though it won't form a vapor barrier after cure. It's suitable for bonding fresh concrete or repair mortars to existing concrete, and for protecting steel reinforcement during restoration. Key Features & Benefits Long, up to 24-hour open time Bonds fresh concrete to hardened concrete and steel to fresh concrete Anti-corrosion coating for steel reinforcement Resists water and chloride penetration Ready to use — do not thin with solvents Application Instructions Ensure surfaces are clean and structurally sound, removing oil, grease, dirt, laitance, rust, and curing compounds Abrasive blast cleaning or mechanical removal is recommended to achieve CSP 5-7 per ICRI Guideline 310.2-1997 Apply to a saturated-surface-damp (SSD) substrate using a stiff brush or hopper gun For bonding, apply at 65-75 sq ft per gallon to a minimum thickness of 20 mils Acts as an effective bonding agent for up to 24 hours at approximately 65°F Technical Data Summary Compressive Strength (ASTM C109): 3,200 psi at 3 days, 6,200 psi at 7 days, 8,250 psi at 28 days Flexural Strength (ASTM C348): 1,285 psi at 28 days Packaging Available in 1-gallon units (also offered in 3.75-gallon units).
