The BMP-2 was designed to address the shortfalls experienced by by the BMP-1 during combat. The most noticeable change is the upgraded gun. The turret now houses a 30mm Shipunov 2A 42 autocannon, which has a dual feed of Armour Piercing and High Explosive ammunition. The turret also mounts an Anti Tank Guided Missile.
