Origin: Finland Description: Traditionaly, labradorite was any feldspar with the green and blue flashes. and spectrolite was all the others like orange, yellow red. They came from two distinct areas, Labrador and Newfoundalnd, Canada and Finland. Madagascar mines were discovered and started producing fedspar in every colour... which really messed with the classifications- because now people refer to madagascars versions as "sunset labradorite" and "purple flash lab" etc. Either way, the Finnish material has less flash overall than the madagasscaar stuff, but very nice colours when you get the sections in the stone that do flash.
