This professional hand-held gemological spectroscope with wavelength scale is designed for examining the absorption spectra of gemstones, helping gemologists and jewellers identify characteristic absorption lines and spectral patterns. Equipped with a direct vision prism and built-in wavelength scale, the spectroscope provides clear spectral dispersion for accurate visual examination. The adjustable 0–0.8 mm slit allows precise control of incoming light, helping produce sharper and more defined spectral lines for easier interpretation. A 40 mm focal-length magnifier improves visibility of the spectrum, while calibration for viewing along the F-axis at 486.1 nm supports consistent observations. With its compact 17 mm barrel, the instrument is comfortable to hold and convenient for use both in the laboratory and in the field. It is supplied with a protective storage case for safe storage and transport. Certain gemstones absorb specific wavelengths of light, producing characteristic absorption lines or bands within the visible spectrum. By examining these spectral patterns and comparing them with known reference data, the spectroscope can provide valuable information to assist with gemstone identification. The adjustable slit allows the amount of entering light to be controlled. Reducing the slit width can help produce sharper spectral features, while a wider setting allows more light to enter when examining less strongly illuminated stones. Why Choose This Gemological Spectroscope? For professional gemstone work, the addition of both an adjustable slit and wavelength scale provides greater control and reference capability than a basic fixed-slit spectroscope. Its combination of a direct vision prism, 0–0.8 mm adjustable slit, 40 mm focal-length magnifier and compact 17 mm body makes it a practical instrument for professional jewellers, gemologists and gemstone buyers who need a portable tool for spectral examination. Please note: A spectroscope is an identification aid and spectral observations should be interpreted alongside other appropriate gemological tests when identifying gemstones.
