So yeah. This one’s for the Potterheads. You know who you are. You’ve got a wand somewhere (don’t lie). You’ve argued about whether Hermione could’ve beaten Harry in a fair duel. You’ve cried at “After all this time? Always.” Anyway. Someone asked me a while back – “can you do a Harry Potter cake? Not just a boring lightning bolt on a round cake. Something proper.” I thought about it for ages. Tried a few things. Messed up a couple. Then my mate said “just make it a heart, put some stars on it, call it Spell & Sugar.” And it worked. So here it is. Heart shaped. About 7 inches. Feeds maybe 4–6 people, depending on how hungry they are. Sponge is vanilla – our proper one. Light, fluffy, real vanilla. None of that fake rubbish. Buttercream is vanilla too. Simple. Then the magic bit. Gold and red mostly (Gryffindor vibes). Little edible gold stars everywhere. A lightning bolt on top, hand piped. Sometimes a tiny sorting hat made of chocolate if I’ve got the mould out. And I pipe “Spell & Sugar” on the side because, well, that’s what we’re calling these now. Comes with a little tag – you choose “Mischief Managed” or “Always”. Or if you want something else, just tell me. Who buys this? 11th birthdays. That’s the Hogwarts letter age. Big deal. 17th birthdays. Wizard adult. Grown‑up fans (30th, 40th, even 50th) who never grew out of it. No judgement. I’m one of them. Couples on Valentine’s. The “Always” thing works perfectly. Honestly? Anyone who wants a bit of magic and nostalgia on their cake table. Different house? Yeah, course. Just tell me: Gryffindor – red & gold Slytherin – green & silver Hufflepuff – yellow & black Ravenclaw – blue & bronze Takes a bit longer but worth it. Different flavour? Yep. Chocolate, red velvet, lemon, whatever. Just message me. How much notice? Week or two if you can. Themed stuff takes longer – getting the colours right, making sure the little decorations don’t look rubbish. Last minute? Message anyway. Might be able to do something simpler. Collection or delivery? Collect from the shop in Bromley. Or I can drop it off local. No magic carpet, sorry. Just my little car. One thing… The gold stars are edible. The lightning bolt is icing. The sorting hat (if I make it) is chocolate. All fine to eat. But don’t try to cast a spell on the cake. Won’t work. I’ve tried. Also if you want a specific quote on the tag – “I Solemnly Swear I Am Up To No Good” is a bit long but I’ll try. Right. That’s the Spell & Sugar one done. For muggles and wizards. Expecto deliciousum.
