Spikenard Oil Spikenard Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the roots of a flowering plant that’s native to the subalpine and alpine regions of the Himalayan mountains. Spikenard was traditionally used to anoint people of high honor and support Indian Ayurvedic health practices. Today, its woody, musty aroma is a popular addition to perfumes and massage blends. Spikenard oil promotes clean, healthy skin. By sourcing Spikenard essential oil from Nepal, doTERRA provides much-needed income to harvesters and partner distillers in remote areas, as well as rural community development projects through Co-Impact Sourcing initiatives.
