Spinning 201: Beyond the Basics - Intermediate Spinning Date: Sunday, September 27th - 2:00-4:00pm Class level: Advanced Beginner (must be able to spin a single ply yarn) Take your spinning skills beyond the basics in this intermediate spinning class! We'll explore how twist direction affects your yarn, different plying techniques, wheel tension, spinning woolen and worsted, finishing your yarn, fiber prep and other skills. What You'll Learn: How different wheels work Wheel tension Fiber prep Roving, braids and rolags Different plying techniques including plying back - sample yarn Navajo plying How to tie on bobbin leader Z & S Twist Spinning woolen and worsted Finishing yarn Materials needed: Spinning wheel in good working order (Good working order means all parts are in good shape -no missing pieces, and the wheel is balanced.) Roving - bring your own or purchase at the shop before the class The "Rent a Wheel" option for this class is purchased separately and includes the use of an Ashford Traditional Single Drive OR Ashford Joy Spinning Wheel.
