Species: Spinosaurus sp. Age: Cretaceous (~100 Million years ago) Origin: Moroccan Sahara Size: 3-6cm (1.2"-2.4") Spinosaurus is a genus of spinosaurid dinosaur that lived in what now is North Africa during the Late Cretaceous period. It is the longest known terrestrial carnivore, comparable in size to T. Rex and Gigantosaurus. Among Spinosaurus's distinctive features was its dorsal sail, which was composed of long extensions of the vertebrae (or backbones), and grew to at least 5ft long. The functions of the dorsal sail may have included temperature control or mating displays. The photos are representative of the specimen you will receive, but may not be the exact one. Show more
