Showy pink flower wands make this a popular shrub for rain gardens, swales, and other moist areas. The rare Karner blue butterfly has been seen visiting the flowers for nectar. Dee r and rabbits occasionally browse it but the bitter foliage is not their favorite. Spreads by suckers. Prune in early spring if desired. Remove suckers to control spread.
