On plastic palettes, the paint simply beads up, so it's hard to mix and evaluate the color. This handmade palette from Busy Hands Studio in Michigan features a cute, 11-well "Splat" layout, with individual wells and mixing space in between (if you're comfortable coloring outside the lines.)
