Splendor, by Rainbow Gallery, is a 12-ply spun silk that is composed of three 4-ply bundles twisted together. The twist of each individual strand is tighter than most silks making it easier to use. This fiber has a warm rich luster and is a great choice for stitchers using silk thread for the first time. It works well on all sizes of canvas and fabric. Consider blending two different colors in the needle for shading, or try blending with other types of threads. Colors are dyed to match many fibers in Rainbow Gallery's Grandeur, Elegance and Subtlety lines. Note about spun silk: spun silk is comprised of pieces of cocoon fiber vs pure silk filament (Trebizon) which is comprised of naturally long strands from a silkworm cocoon. You will find that pure silk filament has a shinier luster and spun silk.
