AUTHENTIC INDIGENOUS ART by Micqaela Jones Artist's cultural background: Te-moak. Micqaela grew up on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation of the Shoshone and Paiute Nations located 100 miles northeast of Elko, Nevada on the Idaho border. Her youth was filled with rich visual experiences, days spent hunting, fishing and enjoying the beauty of Nevada's outdoors with her sister and two brothers . Her Dad, also a painter, and Mom, made sure we learned how to work hard and play hard. Today as always, she continues to work on new ideas, new paintings and new techniques. Her work has evolved into an intertwining of my Shoshone culture along with contemporary expressions, resulting in colorful vivid paintings. Show more
