Nature's multivitamin Each spring I grab a basket and head to my favorite nettles patch in a field by an old abandoned farmhouse up the road. The rituals of spring always include gathering herbs that pop up when the ground warms. They are 'alterative' or 'blood purifying herbs that aid in cleansing stagnant metabolic waste and gently supporting the body's elimination systems (kidneys, liver, lymphatic, bowels and skin) in preparation for increasing activity levels. Spring Tonic Tincture contains: Nettles, dandelion, cleavers, violet leaf and flower, plantain, hen bit, purple dead nettle, chickweed, and lemon balm in 80 proof alcohol. A tincture is a strong concentrate of herbs infused in an alcohol menstruum for 6 weeks or more. Similar to a tea, but the alcohol extracts more potently all the beneficial constituents of the herb.
