Springfields Cedarwood is a 100 per cent pure, certified organic essential oil steam distilled from the stem wood of the atlas cedar, Cedrus atlantica. The aroma is dry, warm and softly sweet, woody with a balsamic depth to it. It is a base note, which means it is the slowest part of a blend to evaporate and the part that gives everything above it something to sit on. It is commonly used in skin and hair care blends for the skin and the scalp. The 10 mL amber bottle is an aromatherapy and home fragrance product, not a medicine.Product Strengths Cedarwood is traditionally used in aromatherapy as a grounding, settling wood note. Certified organic: the oil is sold as a certified organic pure essential oil. True atlas cedar: Cedrus atlantica is a genuine cedar of the pine family, not the Virginian juniper that is also sold under the name cedarwood. The two smell quite different and the label here is specific. A proper base note: a small amount anchors a blend and slows the whole thing down, which is why it is a workhorse in perfumery as well as aromatherapy. A long standing choice in skin and hair blends. Wide blending range: bergamot, Roman chamomile, clary sage, cypress, frankincense, geranium, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, marjoram, orange, neroli, palmarosa, petitgrain, rosemary, sandalwood and ylang ylang. Bath: mix around 6 drops with 6 drops of dispersant before adding to warm water. This oil must not be used undiluted in baths. Dilution: for adult skin contact, dilute to 1 to 3 per cent in a carrier oil. As a guide, 1 per cent is roughly 1 drop per 5mL of carrier.
