The Sprout’s Sunshine is a flavourful plum which originated not too far from our nursery. Yellowish-green-coloured plums that are firm, yellow-fleshed and semi-freestone. Sprout's Sunshine Plums deliciously balance a sweet flavour with some tang, and their firmness proves to be an excellent trade for baking! These plums produce good yields and average 3 to 4 cm (1 1/2") in size. Sprout's Sunshine plums ripen around late August and keep well after harvesting. An open-pollinated seedling developed by Sprout Farms in Bon Accord, Alberta. Growers Note: It is highly recommended that you purchase a Canada Plum or an American Plum to pollinate our Hybrid plums, as they are self-sterile. Plum trees like fertile, well-drained soil. They should be planted at least 3-4m (12-15 feet) apart, and fruit can be expected around 4 to 6 years of age.
