Spypoint Flex-S Dark (Cellular)
Spypoint Flex-S Dark Trail Camera Review The Spypoint Flex-S Dark camera is a great addition to the Flex series which allows you to go covert with a no glow IR flash or you have th e option to make it a red glow through the menu. This camera also has an upgrade from the previous models with a more user friendly latch. Importantly, this camera will still be the only cellular camera with a solar panel integrated on the unit, making it an excellent choice for an area that receives a lot of sunlight.- TCP Staff Model # Spypoint Flex-S-DARK | Spypoint Flex S Dark Manual Trailcampro Comprehensive Score: 90/100 Picture Quality: 84/100 40 Mpxl Photos (interpolated) | 1080p Video Resolution Battery Life: 2.9 Months (pics) | 1.8 Months (videos) (Without Solar Panel) Using 35 pics day + night | Using 15 vids day + night Trigger Speed & Detection: 90/100 Trigger & Recovery: 0.41 s. - 3.1 s. In reality, the native resolution of 99% of all trail cameras is 5 megapixels or less. Manufacturers artificially inflate megapixel ratings for advertising purposes through a process called interpolation. Interpolated photos are enhanced by software to mimic the file size of a higher megapixel photo, but seldom offer additional clarity or resolution. The result is an exponentially larger file size photo which takes longer to load and slows down the speed of your camera. We always program our cameras to capture photos at the image sensor's native resolution. This allows our cameras to operate as efficiently as possible and store more photos to memory. With shorter load times, this also allows us to review photos at a much quicker pace. This model appears to be an enhanced version of the original Flex, notably featuring an integrated solar panel on its top surface. The top-down opening latch is a unique design choice, and opens easier than previous Flex models. The battery tray is conveniently accessible at the bottom of the unit. On the back, the camera includes a threaded insert for a Slate River mount and a built-in python bracket, offering versatile mounting options. It's worth noting that the absence of an internal viewer means you'll primarily rely on the smartphone app for setup and image review. The camera does feature indicator lights that illuminate to provide feedback on certain functions, such as signal strength. All in all, this is one of the best designs that we have seen by Spypoint. Camera Setup Setup is as simple as you hope it will be. Shouldn't take longer than a minute or two, even for folks that don't like technology. Download the Spypoint app and create an account Click the + button in the cameras tab to add a camera Follow the instructions (Takes maybe a minute) Turn the camera on Data Plans Durability The vast majority of consumer-grade trail cameras are inexpensive, imported devices exposed to harsh conditions 24/7/365.
