Illustrated by Jon Klassen This book is about Square. This book is also about Square’s friend Circle. Also it is about Square trying to make something perfect, like Circle is. But it is hard to make something perfect. A New York Times Bestseller ★ “Comic gold.”—Publishers Weekly, Starred Review ★ “A must purchase.”—School Library Journal, Starred Review “A typically original delight, full of minimalist images, dry humour and an undercurrent of philosophical debate.”—The Daily Mail “Droll, subdued and enigmatic, this second volume of a planned trilogy will delight children ages 5-9.”—The Wall Street Journal “Inquisitive, witty, and awash with intelligence and depth, it’s just lovely.”—The Belfast Telegraph “Square may doubt he’s a genius, but there is no doubt about the genius contained within this witty picture book.”—The Columbian “A philosophical...droll meditation on art, work, and imposter syndrome, with elements of the Sisyphus and Narcissus myths….Is it about the dangers of bluffing? Or undervaluing our talents? Or a subtle meditation on importance of luck over cunning? Klassen, the master of shifty eyes, keeps us guessing, while Barnett’s text is ripe with comic self-doubt.”—The Evening Standard “Funny and lightly philosophical.”—Booklist “Witty, thoughtful…a compelling read-aloud.”—The Horn Book “Chockablock with philosophical topics to ponder and debate.”—Kirkus Reviews Show more
