Designer intro Charmian Harris Jewellery Charmian and her daughter, Meriel, make jewellery using an unusual range of colourful precious and semi-precious stones as well as dichroic and Murano glass. They work with high carat gold and silver using hand-held tools such as hammers, pliers and blow-torches to shape and solder the metal. Their work is frequently inspired by nature– leaves, grasses, birds and other animals but it also has a feel of ancient Roman and Greek jewellery with simple designs, soft textures and vibrant colours. They choose stones with unusual cuts so that most of their pieces are one-off designs.
