Gauge:16 sts and 42 rows (21 garter ridges) in garter st on needle size 4½ / US 7 = 10 cm x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches. Directions:The shawl is knitted back and forth, from corner to corner. Start at one tip and gradually increase in pattern by making yarn overs until just under half of the yarn has been used, whereafter decreases are made along both edges until there are no more stitches.
