The name 'Pachamama' was inspired by the word for "Earth Mother" in Quechua, the ancient language of the Incas. In 1996 they began their fair trading journey, with handmade wool clothing and accessories all made in Nepal. Pachamama are at the forefront of the slow fashion movement. They place an emphasis on slow, sustainable and ethical fashion, with handmade and unique designs that are made of all natural materials. They also work with villages in Nepal, supplementing their incomes from farming and fitting production around work and family commitments. Even with the seasonal nature of their business, they make sure they are able to provide year round orders to ensure a steady and reliable income to these workers.
