Christopher was a 3rd-century Christian and a “carrier” by trade. This meant that his job was to take goods and people safely across rivers that had no bridge. Legend has it that o ne day a young child asked if he could be carried. Christopher was overwhelmed by the weight of the child, but pressed on.
