St. Joachim the Holy Ancestor, father of the Theotokos, was the righteous husband of Saint Anne and the father of the Most Holy Theotokos. Renowned for his faith, humility, and per severance in prayer, he and Saint Anne were blessed in their old age with the birth of the Virgin Mary, through whom God's plan of salvation would be fulfilled.
