Considered one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most important building designs, Unity Temple in Oak Park, Illinois (1905), stands as an example and testament to Wright's genius by providin g a uniquely American architecture. This design is adapted from the vast skylight above the square sanctuary. Composed of twenty-five panels using warm brown, deep gold, and opalescent white, the skylight is designed so each panel is turned ninety degrees from its neighbor. Wright's intent was to bring the warmth of sunlight into the space. Unity Temple is a National Historic Landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
