We have playtime as children (“smoking” candy cigarettes and dressing up as cowboys), but we also have playtime as adults (for me, that was nightlife and all that came with it). Graphite and charcoal remind me of the streets of Los Angeles at night: sometimes controlled, other times chaotic— the wild, wild West. My candy cigarette drawings represent my own struggle with balancing my inner child and adult self, especially when night falls and I’m tempted to play."
