Stamnos by the artist Skye Chamberlain is a cast bronze vessel that appears to almost emerge from the smoldering earth. Inspired by the forms of Greek Stamnos or Amphora, the vesse l is classical in form but also appears scrappy in its construction, hand built from a wax mold. Tilted and warped, faint fingerprints can be detected in the bronze finish, as evidence of the hand and a nod to the historical tradition of archival cultural preservation.
