Standard Ceramic Supply's Wax Resist is used to repel glaze and underglaze from undesired areas of clay or ceramic wares. Wax resist, technically a natural or synthetic wax emulsio n with a low solidification temperature such that the product remains liquid at room temperatures for ease of application, is used to repel underglazes for decorative techniques as well as broad coverage to repel glazes. Any glaze (or underglaze) that is not repelled by the wax resist can then be easily removed with a slightly wetted brush or sponge prior to firing. During the firing process the residual wax will combust (burn off) leaving a clean surface or the underlying color products. Show more
